After I finished evaluating all of the great information put together by Karelain in his recent round of coil testing, and based on the test results I decided to purchase a NF Sadie coil and give it a tryout.
I received the coil and was immediately impressed with the build quality, including a couple small things that show attention to detail were a rubberized binding ring that covers/seals the seam where the coil cover mounts to help keep debris from getting between the coil and the cover, and a plastic protector enclosing the cable connector to keep dirt etc. out of the pins until it reaches its owner. Like I said small things, but to me indicate a bit more effort was put into the build.
The grey color is great, but as I expected the mounting ears are a bit wide for the std. Whites shaft mount and so I just added a small rubber washer and it tightened up just fine. Importantly to me, the cable was plenty long to comfortably run the PRO in its chest mount configuration. If you run with chest mode, beware that there are some manufacturers who produce coils with short cables that make the PRO less user friendly in the chest mount config.
I haven't had much time for a shakedown cruise yet, but I did get it out to a local park for a short run yesterday. (I bought the coil for nugget hunting, but wanted to see how it ran). The coil ran max gain (TDI PRO) and was quiet and stable. I didn't find much and so after about an hour, I switched back to my 12" dual field and ran over the same ground. Guess what, didn't find much with that either, so it would appear that the old saying of you have to get it under the coil probably holds true for this run.....Pinpointing was pretty solid, I think more time on my part will make pinpointing a non-issue
My initial impressions are quite positive and I anticipate that it will find the goods once I get it out and run it more.
